An acupuncture needle clip lock cable (commonly called an alligator or crocodile lead wire) is a specialized medical accessory used in electroacupuncture to transmit microcurrents from a stimulation machine directly to inserted acupuncture needles. Physical Components & Design The Clip End (Needle Attachment): Features lightweight, spring-loaded alligator/crocodile clips. These are uniquely micro-sized compared to standard industrial clips to ensure they securely grip the ultra-fine handle of an acupuncture needle without weighing it down, bending it, or pulling it out of the patient’s skin. The Cable/Wire: Built using highly flexible, insulated copper wiring. The insulation is typically made of flexible silicone or PVC, allowing the wires to drape comfortably over the patient without twisting or pulling. Wires are color-coded (typically red and black) for effortless polarity and channel identification. The Connector End (Device Interface): Depending on the electrotherapy unit, the opposite end features either a 2mm pin female jack (which converts standard TENS pigtail leads into needle clips) or a 3.5mm/1/4″ plug that plugs directly into the electroacupuncture machine.
